THE FACTS

Druze

The Druze religious comes from the Middle East and has its roots in Ismailis founded in Egypt in the 10th century. The Druze live in several different countries divided the borders drawn after the breakup of the Ottoman Empire in the early 1920s.

The Druze consider their faith to be the inspiration of the three religious Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This religion is secret and closed to convert, and the person needs to be born in it to be Druze.

There two types of Druze, the wise (ʿuqqāl) the one who are  religious and educated in it and the uninitiated alias "ignorant" (juhhāl) who are born in it but not studied the religion.

The Druze is not a well known religion around the world, and many Druze individuals feel the need to hide their identity to protect themselves from prosecution.
